New Guide showcases St Austell Attractions

A new Town Guide showcasing everything St Austell has to offer, to both visitors and those who live in the area, was published yesterday Monday 13 August.

More than 50,000 copies of the free 60 page, A5 colourful booklet are being produced and distributed around the town to local residents, businesses, retailers and tourist attractions. It includes information on everything from shopping, where to eat, what to do in and around the town, dates for the diary, useful contact details, maps and vouchers.

The South West of England Regional Development Agency and Restormel Borough Council have both funded the Guide. The publication also gives information on the £75 million redevelopment taking place in St Austell and provides a brief history of the town centre. More than seventy local retailers have been listed in the Guide’s directory including Lanna Thai Supermarket, Thin End, Adeba Toys/ Nursery World, Evans Home Hardware, Plus Two Menswear, Saxe Blue, Tengo!, Tiffany’s Cafe and Alias Smith to name a few.

Debbie Osborne, St Austell Town Centre Manager said: “We’re absolutely delighted that the Town Guide is now ready to be distributed in the local area. It’s great that so many businesses and retailers are on-board with the project and that people have been really supportive in helping to make it such a success”.

Robert McGuffie, St Austell Regeneration Manager for the South West of England Regional Development Agency said: “We’re confident that this eye-catching, colourful publication will appeal to a wide range of people whether they’re visiting St Austell for the first time or have lived in the area for many years. The message is that if you think you know the town, then take another look. The town has recently welcomed a number of new shops so we want to use this opportunity for people to visit and see what it has to offer”.

Copies of the Guide can be obtained from the Town Centre Manager at the Engine House on Trinity Street initially. It will then be distributed throughout the town centre and via the Cornish Guardian and West Briton newspapers on the 23 August.  It will also be available soon to download off this website, these are currently being prepared for web access.
