Whats on in St Austell

St Austell Amateur Operatic Society

Following last year’s award-winning success with “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Keay Theatre the Society are looking forward to “Hello Dolly” in April 2007.   We are delighted to welcome back professional London based Theatre Director Scott St Martyn to direct this show.    He worked with us on Me and My Girl and Guys and Dolls to much critical acclaim.

Set in New York around 1890 this show has a vibrant mix of comedy and romance punctuated by show stopping songs such asBefore The Parade Passes By’,’ Put On Your Sunday Clothes’ and of courseHello, Dolly!’.  A widowed matchmaker named Dolly Levi takes a trip to New York to see a prominent, wealthy bachelor named Horace Vandergelder and she quickly finds herself in love with this "half-a-millionaire"!   So she proceeds to weave a web of romantic complications involving him, his two clerks, a pretty milliner and her assistant.   A web of complicated romantic entanglements ensues, and by the end of the story, each character ends up with their ideal partner.   This show is bursting with colour and energy – don’t miss it!

The show runs from Monday 16th April until Saturday 21st April, 2007 with a matinee performance on the Saturday at 2.15 pm.   Ticket prices are £10 each and £8.50 each for the matinee.
